It has come to my attention by some of my close friends that Kid Cudi isn't that good, that his new stuff doesn't quite compare to the old. They could not be more wrong, yeah he might be doing new things with his music that stray from the beaten path but hasn't Kanye's as well. If you listened to College Dropout and then Yeezus no way in hell you can tell me they're similar, I could use this same comparison with Man on the Moon II and Satellite Flight, despite with keeping in the theme of space travel and space itself, they're different albums you know why? because artist when they're music geniuses such as Kanye and Kid Cudi (Mr. West is the one that discovered Scott by the way) grow into themselves even more than before giving their music more meaning than it once did.

The other argument brought up to me on why Kid Cudi isn't, dare I say it, good, is that his sound when no longer influenced by drugs isn't the same as what he puts out now. This is ridiculous, Kid Cudi wasn't good because he was high when he made a majority of his early works but because he spoke about vulnerabilities and other human emotions through a new sound, one that didn't sound so main stream, he was experimental and thats one of the things I love about him.
The way Cudi perceives hip/hop is all in another as well, he uses far more rock and roll based samples and even plays the instruments himself on a majority of his newer tracks. He is a prime example of how hip/hop can take many forms and that its not always about fucking bitches or getting money but that it can have any mentality positive or negative.
